The Digico SD5's work surface is a low noise, heat dissipation work surface benefiting from Hidden-til-lit (HTL) technology, yet its five digitally driven full colour TFT LCD screens, three of which are touch sensitive, have a new configuration that allows easy access to single or multiple users. There are also two interactive dynamic metering displays (IDM)) and instant access 'quick select' buttons which are positioned conveniently down the left side of the two channel screens for fast and intuitive navigation.
Incorporating the master screen into the worksurface meterbridge design has allowed for complete user feedback, but maintained a lower profile meter bridge. This still allows clear visibility of those on stage for the user, with everything in close reach to the mix position.
As with all SD range consoles, the Digico SD5SD5's superior headroom, dynamic range and audio quality are of paramount importance and its feature set surpasses any other console in its class.
As standard, the Digico SD5 comes with a 2Gb fibre optic system, which is capable of running 448 channels of I/O at 96kHz, plus 56 console-to-console tie lines, allowing connection to up to 14 of the SD-Series racks. There are three redundant MADI ports and local I/O includes eight microphone inputs, eight line outputs and eight AES I/O (mono).
The SD5 has 124 input channels; 56 configurable busses, plus up to 5.1 master; a 24 x 24 fixed matrix; DiGiTubes on every channel, buss and output; 24 assignable Dynamic EQ; 24 multiband compressors; 24 stereo effects; 32 Graphic EQ; 10 x 4 (40) RGB backlit macro buttons; plus the ability to add a Waves upgrade.

Stealth Digital Processing (Super FPGA) Technology
Powering the SD5 is our latest in high density digital processing, the all-new Stealth mixing and routing engine, exclusive to DiGiCo.
Based on the latest incarnation of FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) technology, known as Super FPGA, it’s a core component of the SD5’s console design.
Allied to two of the latest generation of SHARC® effects and control processors, it endows the console with a staggering six times the overall processing power of a D5 Live.
The benefits are to be found not only in the high resolution audio processing, but limitless flexibility too.
While new-generation Tiger SHARC® chips provide an awesome array of quality reverbs and effects.
Touch Screen Heaven
Touch screens have always been part of the DiGiCo work surface experience. On the Digico SD5, as you’d expect, they’ve leapt ahead of current standards.
Our desire to provide larger screens than the standard 10.4inch met our wish to provide faders in larger sections. So each of the three new 15 inch TFT LCD touch sensitive displays sits above a group of 12 faders for clearer, more logical operation.
In common with every other key area of the consoles display, the metering’s light level is individually adjustable to suit everything from a festival mix tower to a Broadway theatre.
All of the D Series’ intuitive touches such as electronic scribble strips and labellable buttons are also here, now greatly enhanced by new full-colour backlit control knob digital collars and the high contrast afforded by the SD5’s black polycarbonate control surface.
Besides carrying all its labelling on the back, giving the ultimate in surface durability, it conceals numerous LED indicators thatappear only as and when required to maximise visual clarity and minimise clutter.
Inspired by the marine industry, these ‘Hidden Till Lit’ (HTL) context-sensitive indicators appear just when they’re needed.
Another pro audio world first from DiGiCo.
DigiTuBes Vale Emulation
Usage is monitored via the DiGi-TuBe icon on the console’s screen when activated. A delay usage meter is also now shown on the meter bridge when this function is used.
When you’re working with large numbers of inputs and outputs, the SD5 will readily accommodate you, 124 channels with full processing. Some consoles remind you of their analogue roots. Only DiGiCo lets you forget them. While some sound engineers have embraced wholly different working techniques in the digital era, if you’re already a DiGiCo user the chances are you appreciate the logical thought processes that accompany working in the analogue idiom.
However you think, though, intuitive operation is as crucial to responsive live mixing as ever, and throughout the SD Series’ design it’s a core philosophy that your next task should always be instantly accessible.
The massively increased processing power of the SD5 means we’ve been able to take this concept much further. Retaining the instant accessibility of its predecessors while adding new flexibility and sonic purity.
The best of both worlds. So intuitive you almost forget it’s there.
24 X 24 Output Matrix
Adding to this already substantial bussing resource are an additional stereo or LCR Master buss and a 24x24 output matrix, with the SD Range’s industry-renowned routing flexibility that lets you configure the console for the most complex show.
