I know many of you have been following the 700MHz Wireless issue and are aware of the changes in the law. In case you are not aware the FCC released a statement January 15, 2010 announcing that it had adopted an “Order and Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking prohibiting the further distribution and sale of Devices that operate in the 700 MHz Frequency”. The ruling specifically orders that the bandwidth between 698 MHz and 806 MHz be cleared no later than June 12, 2010 to make available the space for “Communications Services for Public Safety and the Deployment of next generation 4G wireless devices for consumers.
What does that mean for owners of wireless microphones that operate in the 698 MHz to 806 MHz region? Simply that you must replace your existing system(s) and that you can no longer legally sell that unit in the US. What is the solution? Fortunately most Wireless Microphone Manufacturers have extended their rebate programs until the June 12th, 2010 deadline giving consumers time to buy replacement systems.
We at SE Systems will continue to keep wireless microphones priced at the lowest possible prices to help ease the pain of replacement. Our sales staff can assist you with rebates and selection of the best frequency range for your city. Note that microphones in the 698 MHz to 806 MHz range will no longer be accepted for repair service.
